Mediterranean Cruise Day 6 and 7: Excursion Day Ibiza, Ibiza

The DAILY program offers a.o. aerobics, stretching, cumbia dance lesson, ping pong tournament and crazy mini golf.Should I stay on board or go ashore?
Well, you’ve heard that ‘song’ before …
As always, no doubt; I want sights galore!

Arrival 16:00 Ibiza (and – for the first time – stays for the night).
Next day: All on board 13:30. Departure 14:00.

Ibiza, along with Mallorca and Menorca, is the third largest island of the Balearic archipelago, a large group of islands within the samme body of water; the Western Mediterranea, an autonomous community of Spain.

Ibiza Town is a city and municipality on the southeast coast. Population ~ 50,000. The official name, as seen on signs around the island, in Catalan is Eivissa and in Spanish and English Ibiza.

Option 1: Buy cruise ship bus tour excursion to Ibiza town, Les Salines, Sant Josep and Sant Antoni de Portmany: EUR 39.
Option 2: Step off the ship (moored at the cruise ship terminal of Ibiza), take a walk to the city center 30-45 minutes. It’s free and it is a very nice walk. And i
f you want to see more of Ibiza, e.g. Sant Antoni plus disco’s Eden and Es Paradis, you can rent a car or take the scenic route train.

Ibiza is a charming island with several places registered as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural sites with remains of Phoenician settlements and ‘natural sites’ such as Ses Feixes Wetlands.
Total population ~130.000. However, almost 6 million people travelled through Ibiza airport last year (2012).

Ibiza town is exciting with a fortress and very beautiful and diverse architecture, from all ages. Not to mention lots of clubs, cafes and restaurants.

At night, if serious nightclubbing and electronic dance music is your game, “there can be only one”: Ibiza!

Constant reminders everywhere.

There are numerous nightclubs, some of the most well-known are:
Privilege (capacity: 8000), Amnesia,  and Space – massive nightclubs some distance away from the city centre (you will need a car/cab) and Ushuaïa – as well as Pacha in the city centre close to the port.

Important: Remember that the party season is from June to September or else you will miss out on the biggest clubs (closed) and names (as I did this time, arrrrrgggghhhh).
If you want nice and quiet, reverse this message!

Three of my favourite DJ’s, regulars at Ibiza, and top hits for exercising and dancing:

Tïesto : Papillon (listen also to the Editors original version)
Carl Cox : Perfect Sunrise (better on the album – I buy music)
John Digweed : Heaven Scent (get albums)

Can’t afford a boat? A trip to Ibiza? A fitness membership?
Do fitness for free; 20 fitness stations by the port. Nice!

Evening: As the ship is not going anywhere, you can decide to stay in Ibiza town with lots of great cafes and restaurant – and pay up. Or you can be a cheapskate (stingy) and go back on board, in casual dress, for your free maxi-meal.

Program of the evening: Let’s Dance with the Entertainment Team, Tango Dance lesson, Merengue Dance lesson, Pop & Shake musical extravaganza, Tropical show, Dance Around the World and … guess what … A Night in Ibiza with DJ Fabio at the R32 Disco.

Go out or stay in?
Last night on the cruise. Last night in Ibiza.
What would you do???????????????????

The party’s (almost) over!
